Lay out a job's signs

Edit layout is the venue's floor plan seen from above, with this job's signs on it at their real size. Drag each line where it goes. Near a window, a wall or a pole it sticks on, the way it's really put up, and the job's Preview shows it there in 3D. Owners and admins lay out a job; anyone who can't change jobs can look but not move things.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open Edit layout

On the job, More, then Preview, then Edit layout at the top right of the 3D. (A job with nothing placed yet has Lay out on the floor plan instead.) The plan shows the walls in dark grey, glass in blue, poles and columns as dark squares or circles, and the furniture faintly. Pick the floor at the top left on a venue with several floors. Drag the plan to move round, scroll or pinch to zoom, and the square button at the bottom right shows the whole floor again.

  2. 2

Put a line on the plan

Down the side, To place lists the job's lines that aren't on the plan yet, with their sizes. Drag one onto the plan and let go where it goes, or click Place to drop it in the middle of the plan and move it from there. Dropped on one of the venue's own spots (the dashed outlines, like the lift lobby doors), it goes on that spot.

  3. 3

Stick it to a window, a wall or a pole

While you drag, the window, wall or pole it's near lights up orange and the sign snaps onto it, facing out from it, with a note saying what it's stuck to, its size, and how far it is from the end of the wall. Where more than one fits, like a column right by the glass, a small list by the sign asks how it's mounted: On the window, On the wall, Round the pole, Hanging or Standing. Hold Alt while you drag to put it down loose. On a tower's outside glass, Put it outside, facing out moves a decal to the other face; on a glass door it's Other side of the glass. Unstick takes it 300 mm off what it was on, hanging free.

  4. 4

    Move it and turn it

Click a sign to pick it: the box at the top of the side says what it is and what it's stuck to, with How it's mounted to change it and Bottom edge for how high it starts off the floor. Drag it to move it; a sign on a wall slides along the wall. Something hanging or standing has a round handle in front of it: drag the handle to turn it, 15° at a time, or hold Shift for any angle (R turns it 15° too). The arrow keys nudge the picked sign 50 mm, with Shift 500 mm.

  5. 5

Undo, take off, and see it in 3D

Every drop, turn and change saves straight away, and Undo at the top (or Ctrl+Z, ⌘Z on a Mac) takes back the last one. Delete, or Take off the plan, puts a line back in To place after asking first; its artwork and everything else stay as they are. Click Preview at the top left to see the job in 3D with each sign where you put it. A sign with no artwork yet shows there as a pale card with its name.

Good to know

  • A sign put on the plan here is just this job's, so moving it never moves another job's. A line on one of the venue's own spots (like the Bar front) moves that spot for every job, and the side says so before you do.
  • Claude can do the same: ask it to put the window strip on the north glass of Level 29 for this job, or to wrap the reception column.
  • On the phone, Edit layout isn't there: laying out is done on the website, at a desk. The phone shows which spot each line goes on.
