Signs at a venue, in 3D

A sign spot is a regular place for a sign at a venue: the bar front, the back wall, a side panel. Mark them once on the venue's 3D, put a template's or a job's lines on them, and the artwork shows in place, the way that kind of sign looks.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Mark the spots

Open the venue, then Zones, then the zone (like Courtyard / Cage Bar). Under its floor plan, click Add sign spot and click the wall, counter or panel where the sign goes. Give it a name, a size in mm, how far it stands off the surface, and what usually goes there. To move or turn it, click Edit on the 3D and drag its arrows or rings. Take it away asks first; the lines on it keep their artwork.

  2. 2

    Pick the kind of sign

Flat print is printed flat on the surface: wraps, skins, banners and posters. Shapes are cut shapes standing off the surface, foam or board, cut from the artwork's shapes. Neon / LED is a glowing outline on clear acrylic, often over a print. Panel is a board hung or stood on its own, with art on one side or both. A spot has the kind that usually goes there; a line can be a different kind on it.

  3. 3

Put a template's lines on the spots

On a job template's Venue tab, pick the venue and zone. The 3D shows its spots, and each line has a Spot to pick and a kind of sign. Match by name puts each line on the spot its name says. Example artwork on a line shows on its spot straight away, so you can see how it will look; it stays on the template and never goes on a job. Click Save to keep it all.

  4. 4

See a job's artwork in place

A job started from the template has its lines on the same spots. On the job's Overview, Setup shows the venue in 3D with each line's artwork on its spot as it comes in: the customer's artwork, else the print file. Under the 3D, pick which line goes on each spot. A line with no artwork yet shows as a pale card with its name.

  5. 5

Say what kind of sign a product makes

On a product's Files tab, Kind of sign it makes says how a line made as it looks on a spot, next to its print template with the cut lines and bleed. Left as As the spot is, it takes the spot's kind.

Good to know

  • On an order page made from a template with a venue, the customer sees their own artwork on the spots as soon as they pick it.
  • On the phone, a zone lists its sign spots and a line shows which spot it goes on. Spots are added and moved on the website.
  • Claude can list a venue's spots and put a job's lines on them: ask it to put the bar front wrap on the Bar front.
